On 2 December 2024, the Italian Community of Practice held its third meeting to continue the discussion on Seeds of Change, exploring best practices that drive transformative approaches in biodiversity and ecosystem services assessment. Following the second meeting, which mapped out key themes and collected innovative practices, this session focused on deepening the analysis, identifying synergies, and discussing practical applications.

The meeting gathered twelve participants from non-profits, private enterprises, academia, and the public sector. Discussions highlighted the role of citizen engagement in environmental decision-making, with examples of participatory workshops, stakeholder mapping, and innovative tools such as sensors, wearable devices, and community-led surveys to enhance data collection and public involvement.

A key focus was on ensuring long-term impact by integrating ecological monitoring, economic assessments, and decision-support tools into climate resilience strategies. Participants also emphasized the need for practical resources, such as guidelines and frameworks, to help policymakers and practitioners embed transformative approaches into governance processes.

To build on these insights, the Community of Practice is developing a strategic plan for 2025, outlining future priorities and actions. This plan will be shared with participants in the coming months to strengthen collaboration and further advance transformative change initiatives.
